The Brooks family was born and raised in

confessed Christ at an early age at the St. Luke Baptist Church #2 in Ringgold,
LA.
Mortice later joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist in Ringgold, LA in the 1970's
where
she was a faithful member until her health declined. Even when she went to the nursing home they would still bring her to church some Sunday's. Her grandsons would also bring her to church after she moved home. Mortrice attended Ringgold Colored High School in Ringgold, LA.
She was a housekeeper to many families and businesses throughout her lifetime. She married the late Huey P. Ashley and to this union four children were born Larry Ashley, Terry Ashley, Barry Ashley and Lois Ashley Cook. Later she welcomed two more precious children into the world Michael Brooks and Shelia Brooks.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Willie Brooks and Cliffie Brooks, Seven (7) brothers Eskimo, Otis, Cotton, Sonny, Ray, Joe, Bill; Five(5) sisters Margaret, Hazel, Ruth, Sherry, Willie; Two(2) sons Larry, Michael
;
One(1) daughter Shelia; One(1) granddaughter Terry Ashley.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Terry Ashley of Dallas Texas, Barry Ashley of Ringgold, Louisiana; One(1) daughter, Lois Cook(A.C.

of Haughton, Louisiana; Three (3) brothers Bobbie Brooks, Sr, Harry Gene both of Elm Grove, Louisiana; Billy Ward of Shreveport, Louisiana;
