Sister Mary Louise Smith Gadson was born January 8, 1949 in Bernice, LA to the late Charlie and Mary Braggs Smith. Mary was called home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2020.

She united at an early age with New Hopewell Baptist Church under the Pastor of E.W. Smith. After moving to New Orleans she attended Victory Fellowship Church in Metairie, LA. Mary graduated from Westside High School in Lillie, LA in 1967.

She was employed by the US Postal Service in Chicago and retired from the US Postal Service in New Orleans in 2006. Mary was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She was devoted to helping others. She left an impression on everyone she met. Even during her illness, she provided comfort and aid to others who were sick or despondent. She touched the hearts of so many people.

She united in Holy matrimony to Freddie Gadson in 1968. To this union 3 children were born: Lonnie, Latasha, and LaCyndra. She was preceded in death by her husband Freddie and 2 brothers, Stanford Smith and Mace Smith. Mary leaves to cherish her memory: 1 son, Lonnie Delmar Gadson; 2 daughters, LaTasha Gadson (Tyrone) and LaCyndra Gadson (Donald); 5 grandchildren: Emeisha Gadson, Rogerald Canway, Jr. Jerman; Lea, Jermond Lea, and Dallis Gloston; 2 great grand-daughters, Kenne'thi Gadson and Ry'lee Tapp; 1sister, Mildred Ferguson; 1 brother, Charlie Smith (Stella); a special lifelong friend, Walter Morris, Jr; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary's sweet spirit and legacy, will forever be remembered by her family and friends.
