Magalene Chatman Lewis was born May 30, 1949 to the proud parentage of Oree and Ida Mae Chatman. She was reared in a loving Christian home in Claiborne Parish. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at Lane Chapel CME Church. She lived a life that mirrored the giving, compassionate God she served.

Magalene attended Mayfield High School, where she met the love of her life, Sellus Lewis, Jr. They were married for over forty plus years. To this union, two sons were born, Tony and Tedric.

"Mag", as she was affectionately known, lived life full of joy and no regrets. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and watching soap operas. To feed her family gave her great joy. Some of her favorite dishes were collard greens, chicken and dumplings, and spaghetti.

One thing that really brought a smile to her face was special times with her family. She was a loving and caring mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oree and Ida Mae Chatman; husband Sellus Lewis, Jr.; son Tony; sister Doris Chatman; and brother Elton.

Left to cherish her memories are her son Tedric Lewis; sister Brenda Chatman; three grandchildren Passion Shelman, Tarvianca Malone, and T'Keya Moore; four great grandchildren Jamiah Malone, Bernard Malone, Jr., Jade Malone, and Baile Malone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
