Luther Ray
Elliott
January 21, 1955 – August 15, 2022
Luther Ray Elliott was born January January 21, 1955, to the late
Charles and Marzell Elliott in Smackover, Arkansas. He departed this life on
August 15, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
He attended Bernice High school in Bernice, Louisiana. In 1974 he met the
love of his life Mary Ann Bank, and in 1978 they were married. To this union,
six children were born.
Luther Ray Elliott, also known as "Cool Hand Luke," was a jack of all
trades. He was good with his hands and he made a living. In his early years, he
worked for the state of Louisiana working on the roadways. He also worked at
Greens Automotive Service in Bernice, Louisiana, alongside his lifetime friend,
Prenston Green. Luther Ray also worked at Bernice Saw Mill for several years. In his spare
time, he loved gathering his lottery numbers and scratching tickets. Luther Ray was the man to call on if
any repairs needed to be made around your home. He would fuss, but he would still find a way to get the
work done for you.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marzell Elliott; his daughter, Aleshonda Banks; his
four sisters, Shirley Jones, Laura Ivory, Zella Jenkins, and Francis Elliott; also his brother, Earl Elliott.
His loving memories will forever be cherished by: his wife, Mary Ann Elliott; his children, Latrice
Elliott, R.T. Elliott (Kim), Alisha Willis (the late La Marcus) Shanbrieka Elliott, and LaShayla Elliott, all
of Bernice, Louisiana; five sisters; four brothers; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a very
special friend, Willie Meadows, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special thanks to Hospices and Christus Highland Medical Center and Charles Elliott (JoeJoe).
