Celebrating the Life and Achievements of
Katrina Nicole Williams
On October 27, 1983, Katrina Nicole Williams was welcomed into the world smiling at her mother, in Monroe, La. Katrina's name means pure, and aptly so, because she was loved by all who knew her. She was brave, outspoken, and fun-loving. Katrina was a hard worker who enjoyed every minute of her life traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
Katrina was a faithful member of Springlake Church of God in Christ, where she accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Supt. Woodrow Davis. Her passion was her love for the Lord. She had a giving and loving spirit. Katrina was an active member of the church choir and women's group. Upon moving to Lafayette, Katrina and her family joined Gethsemane Church of God in Christ where Bishop Alton Gatlin is pastor, until God called her home.
Katrina was a beautiful person externally and well as internally. She lived her life to the fullest by doing everything she like or could afford; only God controlled Katrina's destiny.
After graduating from Grambling High School with the Class of 2001, her mother was so proud of Katrina when she furthered her education and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2009 from Grambling State University. Katrina worked at various medical centers: Northern Louisiana Medical Center and Healthsouth in Ruston, LA; Lafayette General Medical Center, University Medical Center/Clinics and Women and Children Medical Center in Lafayette, LA.
Katrina's infectious smile and comedic personality made her a standout among her peers, during high school she was on the basketball, softball, and track team. She worked as a nurse in the many facets of nursing including travel, psychiatric, and labor and delivery helping women with postpartum. Her devotion to her patients was evident that Katrina once shared that every time she witnessed the birth of child, she became overwhelmed with joy.
On June 1, 2020, Katrina entered eternal rest in Lafayette, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her father, Polk Williams Jr., Katrina leaves to mourn, her mother Silvertean Lawhorne Williams and one brother Polk Williams III. Katrina was a devout mother of four children: Darius Williams (Dallas, Texas), Johnae, Johntrell, and Katori Thomas (Lafayette, La.). She dearly loved her only grandson 10 month-old Carius Williams; who was the light of her life. Her three nieces Azonte, Azayla and Paris; nephew Polk Williams, IV. She also leaves to mourn her aunts, Alma Britt (Lee), Queen Lawhorne, Tressie Sanders (Mark), Geraldine Lawhorne, Virginia Humphrey (Alex), and Benesther Davis and her uncle Johnny Lawhorne, along with a host of cousins and friends.
