Jualkine “Jackie”
Jenell Roberts
October 8, 1961 – January 17, 2024
Jualkine "Jackie" Jenell McLemore Roberts was born October 8, 1961, to Harlan Eugene McLemore of Marion, Louisiana and Mary Nell Taylor McLemore of Bastrop, Louisiana. She entered God's Kingdom after a brief illness on January 17, 2024, in Homer, Louisiana.
Jackie was full of life. She was a bright light that would radiate in every setting she appeared. She had many loves in life that included crafting, listening to all genres of music, gardening, taking pictures and celebrating birthdays, but most importantly, spending time with her seven grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great grandchild in April. In her spare time she loved to watch NCIS, game shows, Different Strokes and Good Times, and when her appetite called, she could be found at Gonzales enjoying the good food and company of the other citizens in town.
Through her camera lens and articles, she captured the many milestones, victories and sometimes, tragic moments of Claiborne Parish. What appeared to be mere work, was actually a passion for Jackie. A self-taught editor and journalist, she was a rare gem in the world of journalism. Her presence at events was never for a story, rather because she had a genuine love for people. She never hid her love for both the Homer Pelicans and Haynesville Tornadoes, and equally photographed and celebrated their many victories on the fields and courts no matter the sport. Additionally, she was a champion for youth and causes that would help build them into greater movers and shakers in the world. Though she never sought public praise for what she held dear to her heart, she was recognized by the Claiborne Parish Boys and Girls Club, DART, Claiborne Parish 4-H, Relay for Life, Louisiana Kisatchie Jaycees and Claiborne Charity for her dedication, support and time spent.
Jackie was never a stranger to anyone and became family to everyone that she encountered. Her greatest joy was quality time with her family. She leaves to cherish her precious memories and legacy her sweet daughters, Jessica Garza, and husband, Nicholas of Haynesville, Louisiana and Tommi Roberts of Homer, Louisiana; grandchildren: Logan Faulk, Harli Fault, James Faulk, Cyndee Barnette, Paislee Barnette, Arron Garza, Lennie Garza and Ellis Garza and sisters: Lania Banka and husband, Billy, of Brandon, Mississippi and Arcelia McGurk of Bastrop, Louisiana.
Though her earthly light has been extinguished, the limitless memories of such a precious soul will continue to illuminate in the hearts of those she impacted.
