James "Renny"
L. Jackson
July 18, 1961 – August 12, 2022
James Lorenzo Jackson, affectionately known as "Renny," entered this
world on July 18, 1961. He was the eldest child born to James L. Jackson,
Sr., and Annie B. Jackson. James made his transition the evening of
August 12, 2022.
James received his formal education in Claiborne Parish. He attended
school in both Homer and Athens. He graduated from Athens High
School in 1979, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Reserves where he served
for four years.
James accepted Christ at an early age while growing up in the Homer
area, he attended church at St. John Baptist Church and Point Pleasant
Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He was very active in both
churches. He sang in the church choirs, attended Leadership Training
School, and participated in other conference and association meetings.
His favorite songs were "God Put a Rainbow in the Sky," and, "He's
Sweet I Know."
James was employed as a truck driver for a brief period of time. However,
serving in corrections was his career of choice. For 31 years, James was
employed as a correctional officer at various facilities in Louisiana and
Texas. He was employed at David Wade Correctional Center, Lincoln
Parish Detention Center, Big Spring Federal Prison, Big Spring
Correctional Center, and Cornell Correctional Center where he moved
up in rank to Special Investigative Supervisor (SIS). He was known
at the four Cornell facilities as "Action Jackson." James remained in
corrections until his health failed.
James married Carol Denise Cooper while living in Big Spring, Texas.
To this 32-year union, God blessed them with three children.
James enjoyed watching WWE Monday Night RAW, Friday Night
SMACKDOWN, Saturday morning SUPER HERO cartoons, and
Sunday NFL Football. The New Orleans Saints was his favorite team.
James could often be found enjoying a "Big" bowl of Corn Pop cereal
while watching his favorite shows.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr., and Annie B.
Turner Jackson, maternal and fraternal grandparents, and numerous
aunts and uncles.
James is survived by his wife, Reverend Carol Denise Jackson; twins,
Chavon Denise and Justin Reese; and youngest son, Jadae Lateef Jackson.
James's granddaughter is due to arrive on the scene any day now.
James also leaves to morn his two sisters, Janice (Phillip) and Jennifer
(Reginald); three brothers, Jamayne (Angie), Christopher (Tiffany), and
Jomichael (Ashley); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and
friends.
