James Cato,
Jr.
January 25, 1950 – February 19, 2023
James Cato, Jr., was born to parents, the late James Sr. and Etta Cato, on
January 25, 1950, in Athens, Louisiana.
Because of his rearing, he accepted Christ and united with
St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. His biggest love was
spending time with his family. His smile would light up any
time he was in the presence of his family. James Cato, Jr., was
married to Shirley Williams Gardments. To this union, one son
was born, Carmino Cato, Sr. He was later married to the late
Gloria Roberson Cato. (Danny, LaVelle, and Carolyn Abney.)
James departed this life for eternal life, leaving many memories
with an abundance of laughter and joy. He is preceded in death
by his parents, James Sr. and Etta Cato; three brothers, James
L., Albert, and Larry Cato; and sister, Paula Cato Abney.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Carmino Cato, Sr.; three grandchildren,
Carmino Cato II, Tamijah Cato, and Lawrence Cato; five sisters, Ever Abney, Mattie Nelson
(Thomas), Linda Cato, Brenda Cato, and Sharon Roberson (Jerry); three brothers, L. Junior
Cato (Carol), William Cato, and David Cato, Sr.; best friend forever, Anthony Roberson;
and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.
