Idell Cheatom was born September 1, 1919.  She was the daughter of Emma Buggs Carter and Thomas Cheatom. She is the oldest known Matriarch of the Crawford and Tabitha Buggs descendants.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Williams Jr., daughters Martha Ann, Mary Ann, Shirley Ann, and her son Robert C. Williams.

Innumerable memories of Idell Williams will be treasured by her children, Alma (Clifton), Maxine (Ira), Taylor (Mary), Lucy, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, great-great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a God Mother to many.

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Cullen, Louisiana under the leadership of Booker T. White Jr., and she served faithfully as the Church Mother and as the Hospitality Chairman until she became ill and was unable to continue her service.

She was member of the Senior Citizens Club, NAACP, and AARP.  She was known to the community as a seamstress, a chef, and a baker. Everyone knew her as a fabulous cook.  She worked in Main-to-Main Annual event selling her famous fried apple pies. She especially loved sharing her great home cooking with neighbors, many children, and the sick and shut in throughout the Cullen Community.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, she transitioned from this earthly life into sweet eternal rest. Her warm character, kind deeds, and compassionate nature will continue to be a legacy in the many lives she touched.

Precious memories of Mrs. Idell C. Williams will continue to live on in the hearts of all that were blessed to have her as an irreplaceable part of their lives.
