Obituary for Herman Oneal Manning
Herman Oneal Manning, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Richardson, Texas, on November 30, 2025.
Born on March 27, 1947, in Homer, Louisiana, Herman was the sixth of eight children born to the late Virgil Lee Manning Sr. and Mattie Norton Manning. Raised in a loving Christian home, he was deeply involved in church and community activities. These early experiences nurtured his lifelong passion for God, His Word, and the people around him.
Herman received his early education in Claiborne Parish in Haynesville, Louisiana, and later graduated from Southern University with a degree in Engineering. His professional journey included impactful roles with General Electric Company, Texas Instruments, and The Wilkins Group, Telecom Electronic Supply Company, VLSIP Technologies, Texans Can Academy Charter School.
Herman also was the owner of HML Concepts . He served on the Hamilton Park Usher board GCC#2 for many years. He was also an accomplished relator for many years (Coldwell Bank, Keller Williams, and Citywide).
Herman was always dedicated to his family. He served as Chairman for the Norton/Turner Family Reunion for 4 reunions. (Dallas, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Los Angeles)
He was an avid golfer and organized the annual church golf tournament for several years. He loved the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys and visited the Texas State Fair at least 3 times each year. As a beloved Brother, Husband, Father and Uncle he will be truly missed.
A proud veteran, Herman faithfully served in the United States Army 3 years and was stationed in Germany for a year and a half.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mattie Manning; and his sisters, Scentral Louise Manning Moore and Cora Lee Manning Farley.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Nona Manning; his children, Arthur Manning, Herman Manning Jr., and Sophia Pickney; and his four beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mattie Manning Richardson, and Shirley Manning Duty; and his brothers, Virgil Lee Manning Jr. (Dorothy), Cardell Manning (Shirley), and Melvin Manning (Juanita). Herman leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many treasured friends who will continue to celebrate his life and legacy.
Mr. Manning's leadership, dedication, and commitment to serve others will be missed, but never forgotten. The legacy he has left within his community will live on forever.
