With hearts of sorrow, The Memorial Funeral Home Staff requests your prayers for the family and friends of
Mrs. Dorothy Jean Wafer
Obituary
"Come unto to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
Sister Dorothy Jean Shelton Wafer was born June 23, 1954, to the late Elnora Burns and J. T. Shelton. She
was preceded in death by three brothers, Walker Braggs, Jr., Charlie Montgomery, and Daniel Shelton,
and one sister, Georgia Bector.
Dorothy gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a graduate of Westside High School in Lillie,
Louisiana.
Dorothy was a devoted mother to two sons and devoted companion, William Earl Richard. She worked
hard to help support her family at Todd Uniforms and Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home. In her spare
time, she was a seamstress and a cook, and she also enjoyed watching movies and collecting purses.
However, most of all her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy.
On November 21, 2023, the Lord called Dorothy from labor to sweet rest at Oshner's LSU Medical Center.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband, William Earl Richards; two sons, Torro
Terrell Burns and William Perez Knighton; four grandchildren, Jasmine Renee, Victoria Janell, Keyontay
Kyon, and Messiah Perez; three great-grandchildren; ve brothers, Robert omas, Jr., of Bernice, LA,
George Shelton (Dorothy) of Summerville, LA, Billy Shelton of Dallas, TX, Jodie Shelton of Bernice, LA,
and Monroe Shelton (Virginia) of Lewisville, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
