Obituary

Sister Deborah L. Cole was born to Effie Jean Cole and Gus Cole on May 31, 1958, in Monroe, Louisiana.
Sister Cole united with the Blooming Grove Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend ?
And Reverend Henry Island. She was a loyal and faithful member. Deborah sang in the church choir and was an
usher. She was always working in the Blooming Grove Baptist Church. It was under the leadership of Reverend
Michael D. Callahan that Deborah created a breast cancer awareness program known as "Pink Sunday". She and
some friends started a youth singing group, the Young Voices of Farmerville. Deborah served on the Kitchen
Committee and did anything she was asked to do. Deborah did it feeling good or bad.
Sister Cole went to Eastside for eight years then Farmerville High School where she graduated in 1976. Deborah
played softball and basketball. She was a cheerleader in the eighth grade. For two and a half years she attended
Louisiana Tech University, and she later attended the local Vo-Tech.
Sister Deborah Cole was preceded in death by her parents, Effie Jean Cole and Gus Cole; grandmother, Threatha
Jackson Braggs; uncle, William Taylor; cousins Yolanda Taylor; brother-in-law, Vernon Jones; and her fur baby,
Dusty Cole.
She was employed by many, Cotton Patch, Magic Rentals, and Con Agra/Pilgrim Pride where she worked for
sixteen years. It was during this time Deborah worked and took her cancer treatments. What a person.
Deborah was involved in many and a was a member of many organizations, including the
Sisterhood of Louisiana, Inc, Sister of Zion, Voter's League, DART, Relay for Life, Witness
Project of Northeast Louisiana, Back to School Bash, and Budding Rose 89.
Sister Cole's favorite pastimes were fishing and talking to her favorite person, the
love of her life, her sister, her back bone, Donna Cole Jones.
Sister Deborah L. Cole raised her hands up to glory and began to rest.
To keep her legacy alive, she leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Donna Cole
Jones of Farmerville; Richard Drake of Farmerville; people that God sent as sisters
and brothers, Jimmy and Gladys Richard, Debra Sensley and family, Sonja Page and
family, Elaine Nation and family, Judy and Joe Langitt and family, Pearline
Brown and family, Greg Morris and family, Alex Burch and family,
Anya Burch and family, Thomas Nation, Caroline Gatson and
family, Missy Pylant, April Fuller, Theodis Gatson and family, Lisa
Hauley and family; second mother, Kathryn Hargrove; special
godson, Zakarie Smedley; special brother, John Foster; three
special cousins, Yvette Taylor of California, Larry Tidwell of
California, and Mary Cole of Farmerville; a very special friend
from the day they were born, Vanessa Darby Evans, class of 76;
and special Aunts, TT Demetrius and TT Mike.
