Deacon Marvin Lewis, Sr., was born to Allen White and Betha
Stoval on November 3, 1941, the last of five siblings. He began
his elementary education at Union Grove Elementary, Homer
Colored Elementary School, Mt. Pisgah, and graduated from
Brown High School in 1959.

He registered for the draft for WWII, but due to a heart
condition, was flagged. Deacon Lewis attended Barber College
in East Texas. After graduation, he returned to Homer to begin
his career. On June 5, 1967, he married Delores Heard.
To this union were born, Stephanie Lewis, Tameka Lewis,
Angela Lewis Daniels (Gary), Christopher Lewis (Kathy
Ann), Marvin Lewis, Jr., Reverend Kerry Sims, Anthony J.
Rudd (Ruth), and James Rudd.

After barber college, Deacon
Lewis worked as a barber for over forty years at the Box Factory
and Evergreen Ministries. He was a great father and provider
for his family and served as a deacon at First Ebenezer MBC.
Deacon Lewis is survived by eight children listed above, along
with their spouses, many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a special cousin, Mrs. Gussie Wilson.
