Mrs. Corine West.

Corine Pritchard West was born April 15, 1924 to Clayborn and Mary Robinson Pritchard in Holmes County, Mississippi.  She departed this earthly life peacefully on January 22, 2025 in Arcadia, Louisiana.

Corine married Albert H. West in 1942 and relocated to Gibsland, Louisiana in 1949, where they remained and reared their children.  To their union, seven children were born.

Corine was an active member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with the Faith Memorial Baptist Church family for many years until her move into Willow Ridge Nursing Center. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Masonic organization. For decades Mother West was known to serve in the Gibsland and surrounding areas visiting her friends in senior communities and providing support to those in need. One of her memorable and endearing sayings was her declaration "It's amazing what the Lord can do" and her loving reminder "let's continue to pray now." Mother West was blessed to celebrate her 100th birthday in April 2024, surrounded by family and friends.

Corine was preceded in death by her infant son Raymond in 1951 and her husband, Albert, in 1992.  She is survived by six children and two stepsons:  Albert H (Caroline); Willie (Priscilla); Eugene (Susan), of Jamesville, NY; Wanda Earnestine, of Durham, NC; James Reginald, of Gibsland, LA; Richard, of Houston, TX; Dorothy, of Fayetteville, GA; and Donald (Nadja) of Potomac, MD; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Eric), Angela, Jacquelyn (Pedro), Brian (Emily), Sydney (Clarke), and Logan; seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to recognize the extraordinary love and compassion shown to Mother West by Dorothy Wright over the years. They would also like to thank the capable and caring staff at Willow Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Arcadia, Louisiana.
