Darwin Anthony Patton Sr. was born July 4, 1948 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Ermon and Bernice Patton. He was the third of seven children.
Darwin accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized and united with Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
Darwin graduated from Bloom High School in 1966. While there he excelled in football and woodworking. Darwin was employed at Ford Motor Company for 33 years retiring as a robotics tech supervisor.
Darwin met and married the love of his life Fannie Beatrice Patton. To this union three children were born: Darwin Anthony Patton, Jr, Christopher
Chad Patton, and Jeremy Steven Patton, Sr.
Darwin was active in the church, serving as a trustee at Calvary MBC and in the community as an uno
ffi
cial mentor to countless young men. He had a love of fishing, gardening, working with his hands and cheering on his beloved USC Trojans and Chicago Bears football teams.
After retirement Darwin relocated to Homer, Louisiana and united with St. John Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Cleon Warren. With his wife, he enjoyed gardening, road trips to see family and precious time spent with their boys, grandkids and friends.
Darwin leaves to cherish his memory his three sons. Darwin, Jr. (Jeanee), Christopher (Kiyana), and Jeremy (Nikki); 3 sisters Erma (Thomas) Carolyn (Michael) and Loretta. One brother Tyrone (Miltonia) seven grandchildren, Jordan, Sydnee, TaShawn, Jeremy, Jr, Kennedy, Veronica, and Darwin, III; three great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Fannie Patton, his parents Ermon and Bernice Patton, brother Charles Patton and sister Justene Hawthorne.
