Bobby "Co"
Olanda Neal
August 30, 1954 – April 13, 2023
With hearts of sorrow, The Memorial Funeral Home Staff, request your prayers for the family and friends of
Mr. Bobby "CO" Olando Neal .
Bobby Olanda Neal, born August 30, 1954, to Wallace and Dorothy Neal in Monroe, Louisiana, was a remarkable man.
During his youth, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Burks Temple C.M.E. Church in Winnfield, Louisiana. His faith and relationship with God would be one to shine brightly throughout his life.
A student-athlete with a pitcher's arm stronger and sharper than a rocket, Bobby was a stellar baseball player that could throw like a pro. In 1972, he completed a major milestone, graduating from Winnfield Senior High School, becoming a proud graduate of his beloved school.
Bobby relocated to a city he grew to love, Shreveport, Louisiana, in his mid-30's. It is here that he met and later married his best half and absolute love of his life, Sharon. He also found a career that he enjoyed – the psychiatric healthcare industry. He spent many years caring for and nurturing the patients while ensuring the families were comforted in the care of their loved ones. Many found hope from the compassion and encouragement they received when in his presence while visiting and as patients. In 2015, he hung up his medical attire and traded it for sports and the retirement life. Although he said it wasn't a physical sport, his favorite was fishing, but in true Bobby style, he never admitted as to why he loved it so much.
A competitor by heart and man of confident, but not arrogant words, he would always say, "I can do anything the youngsters can do, just maybe not as fast". Anyone playing pool with him would often find themselves on the losing end. Not only did he think he was the best at everything, but he truly was one of the best pool players around. His competitive nature earned him the nickname, "C.O.", Commanding Officer.
His fun-loving nature was magnetic for others and was reflected in what he enjoyed watching in his spare time. He enjoyed classic television shows such as: The Andy Griffith Show, Gunsmoke, and Sanford and Son. He loved to laugh and have a good time. His favorite comedians were Richard Pryor and Dave Chappelle. After a long day at work, you could find Bobby sitting on his porch relaxing and enjoying the sounds of his favorite musicians, Johnny Taylor and Anthony Hamilton.
The joyful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend made things brighter when he was around. Though he has joined his parents and sister, Belinda Faye Neal, in their eternal home, his legacy and many memories of laughter and love will remain to be cherished by his loving and remarkable wife of 26 years, Sharon Neal, two children: Dr. Brittany Kiara Reynolds (Kenneth) and Aaron Olanda Neal; three grandchildren: Kaylee Marie Mitchell, Kendall Skye Reynolds, and Kenneth Trey Reynolds; sister, Marjorie Broudy, niece, Tammie Henderson, nephew, Carey Broudy Jr. (Paula), great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
