Billie L.
Maxey
May 2, 1940 – June 25, 2023
With hearts of sorrow, The Memorial Funeral Home Staff requests your prayers for the family and friends of Ms. Billie L. Maxey.
Billie Lois Maxey was born on May 2, 1940, to Pledge Maxey and Willie Mae Nelams in
Haynesville, Louisiana.
Billie attended Brown High School in Springhill, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at an early age
and was a faithful member of Evening Star Christian Methodist Episcopal Church until her health
failed and moved to Ozan, Arkansas, to live with her son and family.
She worked at Tyson Foods for over twenty years. Billie was a wonderful and loving mother,
grandmother, and homemaker.
Billie's daughter, Sherell Maxey; mother, Willie Mae Nelmas; grandmother, Augusta Rowe; sister,
Gertha Wilson; and four brothers, Charles, Jerry, Terry, and Perry Palmer, all preceded her in
death.
Billie leaves to cherish her memory: her one son, Ira Maxey (Shirley); two granddaughters, Shayla
Vickers (Jackie) of Hope, Arkansas, and Netika Maxey of Ozan, Arkansas; two great-grandchildren,
Zahmaurri and Ahmaurria from Hope, Arkansas; goddaughter, Angelia Lee of Cullen, Louisiana;
special friends, Alice Lee and Beverly Ellis of Cullen, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends
