Albert "Aj"
L. Winzer, Jr.
June 12, 1951 – March 1, 2023
With hearts of sorrow, The Memorial Funeral Home Staff, request your prayers for the family and friends of Mr. Albert "AJ" Winzer .
Albert L. Winzer, Jr., made his entrance into this world on June 12, 1951, welcomed by his proud parents, the late Reverend Albert L. Winzer, Sr., and Sister Pearlie Mae Hampton-Winzer.
The sixth of seven children in his loving family, he was reared in Athens, Louisiana, alongside his siblings.
Affectionately known as AJ, he set the pace for his life early in his years by accepting Christ as his Savior and joining the Barnes Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He grew and learned about the Word under the leadership of his father and pastor, Reverend Albert Winzer, Sr.
AJ attended and graduated from Athens-Hillcrest High School in 1969, becoming a proud Trojan. Years later, he and his siblings made a cross-country move from the piney woods of north Louisiana to the sunny, palm tree-lined skies of Los Angeles, California.
During his time in the Golden State, he found his niche as a master of many things, as he was exceptional in many skills and enjoyed working with his hands. Retiring many years later, he was delighted in that it allowed him more time to enjoy spending time with his family and friends.
March 1, 2023, AJ answered the invitation from his Lord and Savior to enter into eternal rest. Awaiting his arrival were his parents; paternal grandparents, Walter Winzer and Lee Chandler Winzer; maternal grandparents, Annie Bell Wilson and Jeb Hampton; siblings, Joe Nathan Winzer, C.D. "Lil Brother" Winzer, and Linda "Baby Sister" Winzer Glenn; sister-in-law, Helen Shine Winzer; brothers-in-law, J.C. Brown and Willie Joe Glenn; aunts, Ionia (Louis) Kimble, Molly Bennett, and Florence Major; uncles, W.A. (Bessie) Winzer and Ferron (Effie) Winzer; nieces, Angela Glenn, Corine Brown, Ruby "Pen" Brown Boyd, and Terri Glenn.
The many memories of love and enjoyment will remain in the hearts and minds of his family, including: one sister, Annie Winzer Brown of Los Angeles, California; two brothers, James (Nellie) Winzer of Homer, Louisiana, and Danny Winzer of Houston, Texas; special nephew, Ricky Winzer; special friend, Val Jenkins; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
